Your Mentawai Surf Trip

Transfers from Padang to the Mentawia resorts are complex to organize, due to the dependency of the boats and planes on the weather conditions. You have the choice between public transports (ferry and planes) and chartered speedboats and planes.

The transfers by ferry allow you to sail the same day as your arrival and departure. Transfers by plane imply usually one night in Padang, as the planes fly in the morning, with variable schedules.

To allow you to take the ferry the same day as your arrival, you must arrive before 15:00 at Padang Airport. For the retun you will be back to Padang Airport before 12:00 and can book a flight after 13:00.

Departures by plane or ferry every day but Sunday

Transfers by public ferry:
Monday (Sumber) and Thursday (Ambu or Simasin) at 18:00 Return to Padang Wednesday and Saturday at 10:00.

Transfers by Mentawai Surf Charter Speedboats: on demand.

Transfers by public plane: Everyday but Sunday or Saturday, by Susi Air.

Transfers by chartered seaplane, directly to Siloinak: on demand.

Your Surf Trip begins at Padang Airport in Sumatra and finishes at Padang Airport. It includes twin or single accommodation, 3 meals per day plus snacks, daily transportation to the surf spots and guiding, satellite internet and phone.

Not included: soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, laundry, Visa fees, Airport and Mentawai Tourism Taxes.

Day 1 - Arrival in Padang
A Siloinak Resort staff welcomes you at the airport.
If you arrive one night before the transfer to Siloinak, we will also assist at the airport and transfer you to a hotel of your choice, until departure to the Mentawai. Note that the nights in Padang are not included in our prices.

Day 2 - Arrival on Siloinak Island
By public ferry: The ferry Ambu (Thursday) is a modern and reliable vessel. With AC cabins, one shared shower, by far the most comfortable way to travel 130 km (about 8/10 hours) to the Mentawai Archipelago. The ferry reaches the harbor of Siberut or Tuapajat on the second day of your journey, at 7 or 8 am.

From the Siberut or Tuapajat harbor, our speedboats take you to Siloinak Resort, a 70/120 -minute boat ride. We will arrive around 12:00, right on time for lunch.

The ferries Simasin or Sumber are much more Indonesian style: their schedules are flexible and unpredictable, the comfort is…basic. But they have a good overall record of about 80% trips succesful if not always ontime.

The flights operated by Susi Air usually leave in the morning, but availibility of seats is not guaranteed as well as the schedules.

Day 3 to Day … - Surf at Siloinak Island
Wake up with the sun, a good breakfast and your speedboat leaves around 8:00 for a full day of surf. Our speed boats take a maximum of 8 surfers with your guide choosing the best spots according to the prevailing conditions.

Day … - Back to Padang
After lunch, transfer to Muara Siberut/Tuapajat harbour or Airport. The ferry leaves between 5 and 10 pm.

Last Day - End of Program
Breakfast in Padang and transfer to the airport for travelers departing the same day. End of our services at 14:00.
