Transportation by train from Airport to town is cheap,
easy, comfortable,.
Kuala Lumpur is a modern, cheap and safe city. There
are lots clean hotels, and good shopping malls.
From Kuala Lumpur to Padang, there is daily morning
flight with Air Asia, www.airasia.com,
a reliable and comfortable Low Cost. Your boards will
be charged as excess baggage over 15 Kg, around 4 USD
per Kg.

Attention: the Low Cost Airport (LCC) is different from
the International Airport ( KLIA)..Allow around 40 minutes
connecting time between both airports.
Singapore
Very often, this is a good choice if you come from Europe
or the US. Singapore is certainly the most comfortable
point of entry to Asia. Transport to town is convenient
and fast. The town is ultra organized and safe. There
is all kind of hotels, from medium price to luxury.
Some flights to Padang leave Singapore around noon,
which make the connection to Padang possible immediately
after your international flight.
From Singapore to Padang, Tiger Airways,
www.tigerairways.com,
is a very good low cost, reliable and cheapthat flies
twice weekly. Your boards will be charged as excess
baggage, over 15 kg, around 4 USD per kg.
The Low Cost Airport is situated about 2 Kilometers
from the International Airport. Allow 15 minutes for
the transfer from one to the other, by a free shuttle.
Garuda Airlines, www.garuda-indonesia.com,
is a longer alternative (via Jakarta), more expensive
(but your boards may be less charged}. The schedules
are less reliable, always be prepared to 2 hours delay.
But it is sometimes the only way to avoid spending one
night in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.
Jakarta
Most convenient point of entry if you want to get a
connecting flight to Padang the same day, there are
around 12 flights each day.
Avoid spending a night in Jakarta. Transportation is
desperately slow. The town itself is highly polluted.
Hotels can be very cheap.

Transfers Padang - Siloinak
A Siloinak Resort staff will welcome you at the airport.
You will be escorted to a comfortable bar with a swimming
pool until the transfer to the harbor at around 5 /
6 pm. The ferry to the Mentawai Islands leaves between
5 and 10 pm for a full night’s crossing. You will
arrive at the resort before 1 pm the next day.
Coming back
You will leave the resort on Tuesday, Wednesday or
Sunday around 12:00, arriving Monday, Wednesday or Thursday
morning around 08:00 at Padang harbor and around 10:00
to 12:00 at Padang Airport.
Always allow 2 hours before a connecting flight.
