Siloinak
Resort is established on a small private paradise island surrounded
by a crystal-clear atoll, near Siberut, the largest of the northern
Mentawai islands.
It
has been the most acclaimed Mentawai resort in 2007, and is also
the most affordable with prices starting at 150 USD per day.
Surfing the Mentawai will be one of your best surf trips due to
the consistency of the Indian Ocean swells. You will surf the
most rich wave spot in the world. There are 19 top performance
waves, 12 of them being classified as world class, in a radius
of 20 minutes by speed-boat from Siloinak. Due to the variety
of their orientation, there will be a reef pumping out clean perfect
waves whatever the wind direction. Our surf guides, with a vast
experience of the reefs, will find exactly the wave of your dreams,
according to swell, tide, wind and your ability.
With
us, you will surf more waves with lesser crowds. Due to the incredible
number of waves in the Playground area and the speed of our boats
(25 knots), the next spot is always less than 10 minutes away.
The surf charter boats, which sail at 8 knots in the south of
the Mentawai. where the waves have much more distance between
each other, cant offer the same number and variety of waves as
Siloinak Resort.
Siloinak
Resort
Siloinak
is your own private tropical island to share with some like-minded
companions. 30 acres of a deserted island, with 900 meters of
coconut palms fringed beaches and a wonderful lagoon, ideal for
swimming among tropical fishes.
Built in
an authentic Mentawai spirit and architecture, the Resort offers
a unique Mentawai experience of peace and relaxation, sometimes
animated by beach BBQ and epic evenings at the bar. It is composed
of a 16 seat restaurant, established in the largest ``uma`` (long
house) of the Mentawai archipelago and 8 bungalows hosting one
or two surfers. Roofs are made of palm leaves and the complex
is entirely built with local tropical red wood. The 8 showers
and toilets, with hot and cold water, are located outside the
bungalows. Siloinak Resort caters to a maximum of 12 surfers.
``Hospitality,
food, organization, flexibility and friendliness absolutely incredible.
This resort is ace. I hope to come back soon. Thank you``

Once you
have booked with us, just relax, we care for all the hassles.
This is part of the "surfing-with-class" experience we offer.
A professional cook with wide experience in top Indonesian hotels
prepares the meals, based on fresh fruit, vegetables and meat
shipped weekly from the mainland. Rice, together with good Italian
pasta "al dente” are the main staple, with fresh fish direct from
the sea, daily delivered and fried, baked, curried or barbequed
on the beach.
Three
hot meals a day, with breakfasts consisting of
omelet’s, pancakes, French Toast, muesli, yoghurt, fruit salad,
cheese, butter and jam.
Lunch
is taken onboard our speedboats or on a remote beach: classic
sandwiches and rice salads, fruits and desserts, along with tea
and coffee, and surf snacks.
Dinner
is quite a serious affair with an "entrée", main course, salads,
cheese and dessert.
The
resort offers the following equipments: Satellite
phone, high speed satellite Internet, DVD player, large screen
TV, video projector, Battery charging equipment with various adaptors
And the following services on request:
Laundry, Thai Massage and
Reflexology, Yoga sessions.
Mentawai
Adventure is also an ecotourism and sustainable development foundation
that works to protect the Mentawai culture and environment. It
has been granted a Global Sustainable Tourism Award by the prestigious
American magazine "Islands".
Our efforts
to develop a sustainable tourism that benefits to the Mentawai
people have been acknowledged. Good for us, but mainly for the
future of the ecotourism in the Mentawai Islands.
Siloinak
Resort will soon start an experiment using a revolutionary method
that speeds up the growth of coral and helps it to adapt to warmer
waters. If successful, this first large scale test will open the
door to extensive exploitation that could help protect the shores
from the rise of the oceans waters due to global warming and also
allow the creation of new "perfect waves" for surfing.
Here
are some excerpts of the "Islands" Magazine December
2007 issue.
"`We here at ISLANDS
decided to celebrate, support and honor the places and people
who have taken up the challenge to make responsible and sustainable
tourism practices a vital part of the way they do business and,
more importantly, the way they live.
To celebrate these incredible and on-going achievements, we've
put together our inaugural Blue List and launched our Islands
Global Sustainable Tourism Awards, which we've dubbed
The Blue Awards.
The people, places and things
that made our list are the very best of the world of islands responsible
tourism. They are models that are working. And they are role models
that should be followed and venerated.
This issue is a celebration of the leaders and innovators in sustainable
tourism, people committed to preserving everything that is unique
about our island experiences.
Congratulations to all our winners in each
and every category. Support them. Celebrate them."
